A Personal Blog on Bicycle Transportation and DIY Projects

Rain barrel water harvesting and other recent backyard projects.

The weekend was full of backyard projects. Larry (Heather’s father) and I worked over the weekend doing what men on a weekend like to do, build stuff and then build more stuff with power tools.

We devised a creative privacy screen for the rain barrel. Larry had the idea of installing a little hatch over the faucet. The rain barrel actually looks good in the backyard now!   That provides 50 gallons of free water that is harvested after each rainy day.

Here’s the BBQ table for what will be holding a “Big Green Egg” cooker in the future.

Finally, we put together a rubbermaid shed and a base for it.   It holds stuff and I am happy with it.
